About Me

Hello! My name is Holly Dembie and I have worked as a Teacher's Assistant and as a Special Education Paraprofessional for the past 8 years. I am specialized in working with students who are visually impaired and multi-handicapped. It is my goal to become a Moderate to Severe Intervention Specialist for grades K-12 by the year 2013.

Special Education encompasses a diverse group of students, where no two children are alike in their learning styles. It is a realm in education where my contributions can lead to real breakthroughs in what children can achieve. The passion I have for teaching in Special Education is renewed every time my encouragement allows a child to gain a higher level of understanding. To me, teaching in this environment provides the most rewarding opportunities an educator can derive because of the chance to make a difference in the lives of children who learn a little differently. It is my philosophy that every child deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment that maximizes their potential. The challenges of individual learners should not be obstacles that create limits. I believe that all core subject material can be taught to every child and it is my mission to give students a place to explore new ideas, to feel accepted and to grow.
